Naxos Greece Destination Wedding from Adonis Kekidakis Photography

This wedding is exactly why I adore destination weddings. A stunning location, gorgeous light, a party that lasts until the wee hours of the morning - it's just the recipe for my version of the perfect day. It doesn't hurt that this couple looks like they stepped out of the pages of a magazine or that the Greece vistas are breathtaking to say the least, but it's the smiles captured by Adonis Kekidakis that really get me, and you can see them all right here.

From the Bride... We were introduced through a couple of mutual friends when I first moved to New York City, what we didn't know was Themis and I had both studied at UCLA years ago but never met. Themis is an architect from Athens and I grew up in Taiwan now work in Finance. When we first started dating, Themis said, 'I have to take you to my Greek island - Naxos'. And then, with all seriousness, he continued, 'there is one tradition I would never break, that is spending every summer in Naxos, no matter where I live'.

Of course, when I first arrived on the island. I fell in love. From the sun bleached villages sprayed across rolling hills, the pale stoned Venetian castle, to the soft sandy beaches embraced by warm waves of turquoise Aegean water. Every corner I turn, I gasped for the rustic beauty. It is truly a place where all myths came true.

So when Themis proposed four years later on the streets of Paris during New Year's Eve, we decided there was no other place better than Naxos to have our wedding. It would be the perfect excuse to introduce everyone we love to this mythical place.

We were married at Agios Nicolaos Church and chose our favorite beach bar that we go every year as the reception venue-- Banana Restaurant & Bar. It's built right on the beach, you can hear the soft waves hitting the shores while dipping your toes in the warm sand. We were mindful of the style of the island, so we kept the rest of the decor at a minimum. What made our planning easy, was the fact that the bar already had a cool and elegant island vibe. However, one thing we insisted on having was sparklers for everyone, just because who doesn't like sparklers!!

The party went exactly as planned, it was full on Greek style. Everyone, that is 170 of our guests, danced until 4 am. Not to say 75 of them joined us from across the globe. And rumor has it, several went skinny dipping in the ocean at the end of the night.
