Nantucket Wedding from Soiree Floral + Zofia & Co.

I’ll never stop professing my love for Nantucket  on this little ol’ blog, and how can you possibly blame me? That little island hosts some of the prettiest parties I ever did see, and this beauty captured by Zofia & Co just upped the ante on my island love affair. With the oh-so-lovely White Elephant setting the stylish stage and beautiful blooms from Soiree Floral filling every nook and cranny, it’s practically impossible not to get a little giddy when going through this gallery. So I think it’s safe to say, I’m smitten. See why here.

From the Bride…David and I first met when I was interning in NY. I met him on my first day at work! A few months later, we went on our first date in Little Italy and stayed in touch while I went back to finish up school in Boston. After 5 years, 3 apartments and lots of laughs, David proposed at an overlook with a view of the NY skyline. It was intimate and special and very ‘us.’ A few weeks after we got engaged, we planned a vacation to relax and soak in the excitement of our engagement. I had visited Nantucket when I was younger but David had never been and I was so excited to spend a week with him on the island. We rented a cute cottage in town and spent the week exploring the beaches, roaming the cobblestone streets and fell in love with the island’s natural beauty. When we had visited the island, we felt as if time stood still.

We had originally planned on having a big, traditional wedding in NY and had booked a venue and set a date but after we had some time to think our decision through, we knew it wasn’t what we envisioned for our wedding day. We went back to the drawing board and recalled all of our fond memories from our summer trip to Nantucket. David is from Upstate NY and I am from NJ – we never planned on having a ‘destination’ wedding but we knew that Nantucket was the perfect location for our celebration with our closest family and friends.

When thinking about an overall theme for our day, I wanted to be sure that the colors we used complimented our beautiful surroundings on the island. I chose to go with a rustic country theme that would bring out the island’s natural beauty. I wanted to incorporate burlap, lace and mason jars into the theme – I envisioned a romantic, garden party wedding that didn’t have a specific “color” theme but gave our guests a feeling of warmth, love, and nature.
