Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens Wedding from Michele Shore Photo

I've just fallen head over heels in love with the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. It's venue perfection, and quite possibly could be one of my favorite ceremony settings of all time. It doesn't hurt that this wedding captured by Michele Shore Photo is perfect in and of itself. Timeless yet modern and full of fabulous, this gallery is one gorgeous place to be today. From the Bride...Our April 6th wedding took place at the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens in Dallas, Texas with a reception following at the Gin Mill. We chose our venues largely because of the natural or inherent beauty of both. We wanted a touch of elegance to our wedding, but we also wanted a comfortable feel. The Arboretum gave us that beautiful natural elegance and the Gin Mill gave us the urban comfortable feel we wanted on our special day.  Both venues are well decorated on their own, so we did not need to spend a large part of our budget on decorations.

I wore a White by Vera Wang dress from David’s Bridal. The dress had many layers with a fringed edge. It was elegant, yet urban – it fit in a garden and a speak-easy lounge which was exactly what I wanted. I carried a bouquet of blush and white roses and ranunculus, while the bridesmaids carried a petite bouquet of all blush roses. The bridesmaids wore silk chiffon dresses from J.Crew. The gray dresses were flowy and sophisticated which complimented my wedding dress perfectly.  I chose soft neutral colors of blush, cream, and gray for our wedding as they seemed romantic, elegant and timeless. The groom and groomsmen wore a black Vera Wang slim fit tux from Men’s Warehouse. The black tux is classic, and the slim fit gave it a bit more of a modern feel. Both of our families are absent little boys, so we selected our older nieces to be the ring bearers. Since the girls are 11 and 12 years old we opted for white lanterns with LED candles instead of the traditional pillows. We felt this was a more mature option for the older girls. Since our wedding was in a garden we chose to have the “flower girls” carry our initials instead of flowers.  We really didn’t need the extra flowers as the surroundings were beautiful enough all on their own.  We added some extra frill to the flower girls attire by giving them floral and lace headbands which we ordered from the Loveable Baby Boutique. The store is out of Lubbock, Texas; however, we ordered it online via the Loveable Baby Boutique Facebook page.

Our wedding was outside with absolutely no backup plan for in case of bad weather. We decided, come rain or shine, we would get married in the garden on April 6th. We chose clear umbrellas as our wedding favors. We thought this would be cute in pictures if it did rain, plus the guests would have some cover. Instead of traditional wedding programs I made a framed chalkboard which listed all of the wedding party along with the order of the ceremony.  For a guest book we chose to have our guests sign quilt squares. Everyone says you never really look at your guest book again. We might never pull out a signature book to read again, but our wedding quilt can always keep us warm!  My husband is very into sports, so for the garter toss we decided to put the garter on a football. Guys will never let a football hit the ground! This was really a fun idea, and that football never touched the ground.

We both really enjoyed our wedding day. We had an elegant and romantic feel during the ceremony and a comfortable, modern feel during our reception. If we had to do it over again, we would choose the same locations. It was the perfect fit to celebrate our union.
