You know what is crazy amazing? This wedding. This jaw-droppingly gorgeous, seriously fabulous wedding filled to the brim with beautiful blooms from Lori Boe Floral Design, a plethora of heartwarming moments and some of the most dazzling details you will ever lay your eyes upon. I'm talking a Spring-infused stunner, lovelies. And the gallery from Jen Rodriguez Photography? Equally as amazing. Join me there for all of the pretty.
From the Bride...There were two things that were incredibly important to us from the very beginning of planning our wedding, that our wedding was incredibly personal and that everyone would have fun, especially through our small details. I wanted every taste, sound and decoration to be something Mike or I loved- to tell our story. My mom and I did most of the planning, and I was the brains behind all the creative ideas. I've always been a very creative person, someone who loves to craft and values good aesthetic design, and my wedding was my greatest project yet! Picking our colors was easy- we just used our favorite colors- Mike's, teal, and mine, coral, and gold to accentuate the natural colors of the winery and the venue. Envisioning what I wanted the wedding to look and feel like was easy!
Mike and I met while attending college in Washington. I was a girl from California, he was a boy from the Chicago suburbs. We both live in Chicago and we got married "back home" (for me) on the Central Coast of California. It added a personal touch for me, to get married at home, but it also added a challenge, planning my dream wedding from halfway across the country. I flew back the week before the wedding and spent the entire week crafting, finalizing details and, basically, not sleeping. Our wedding was relatively small, around 85 guests, so all the personal touches I spent so much time stressing over indeed paid off. Our guests noticed! That was quite the reward.
Our favorite elements from the wedding included our cupcakes from the amazing Enjoy Cupcakes...They are an incredibly creative bakery that was willing to create my absolute favorite frosting, browned butter frosting! My favorite cupcake shop in Chicago makes this frosting, and it was important to share this flavor with the guests. It was equally important for me to subtly include my dog into the wedding. He couldn't join the wedding since he's in Chicago, but he inspired a cupcake flavor, Chunky (his name) Chocolate Salted Caramel and his portrait was also on my bouquet- when I first saw this on my bouquet, I cried! I think the most memorable moment of our wedding was the authentic (NO ketchup!) Chicago hot dog table introduced towards the end of the night for a "midnight snack." We absolutely love Chicago hot dogs, and it was a huge hit with our guests! Our caterer, Testa Catering, did such a wonderful job bringing authentic Chicago dogs to everyone. My friend and I created the marquee letters inspired by a slew of Pinterest posts. I felt like we were able to bring a little bit of Chicago to California, such an important element in telling the story of Mike and Sara.
I could go on for days on how every song, every menu item, decoration, etc. was thoughtful and personal. Our guests seemed to have a wonderful time, and because of that, we consider our little Spring wedding to be a huge, beautiful success! We couldn't be happier.
