We tend to think of garden weddings as the new “It Girl” in the wedding world. They’re fresh and light filled and wildly beautiful. There’s no denying that. But this garden inspired wedding has a little something more. Its secret sauce is a gorgeous blend of classic detailing woven throughout. Those details are the mastermind of Amorology, along with the florals making up that garden feel by Twigg Botanicals and, of course, the images that we can’t stop poring over courtesy of Sarah Yates of Birds of a Feather. They’re making this wedding truly shine. See so much more right here.
From Amorology…Liz and Danny both grew up in the town of Baltimore but it was a Raven’s game that brought them together, meeting at a post game party. They quickly learned that they shared not only a love for the Ravens, but also a love for each other. Danny recognized not only Liz’s evident beauty but her genuine, kind and honest nature and she always had a way of improving the day, the house and their plans. In return, Liz knew she had found someone who approached life with absolute positivity and who she could be silly with and would always share laughter with her. To top it all off, Danny could also make a mean mac n’ cheese to curb even her strongest cheese craving at any given moment.
When we met Liz we instantly fell in love with her too. She had a classic beauty and style about her that we wanted to translate into her and Danny’s wedding. She also had a love for cute party dresses, a girl after our own hearts and we couldn’t be more excited for her to put on another party dress, this time all in white!
Inspired by Robert Frost’s wise words and Liz’s creed to “take the road less traveled” as well as her fond memories of cozy snowy wintertimes spent with family we couldn’t help but conjure up images of a walk in the woods. We set out to take Liz and Danny’s guests on a beautiful nature expedition through a palette of greens, creams, grays and rustic browns. Driven by textures even more so than colors we incorporated weathered chunky gray wood tables, birch logs with white cable knit vases and cement terrariums filled with ferns and delicate blooms.
Guests were invited to enter the tent from a display of stacked cut logs, moss, and candlelit wrapped votives with the guests names. Custom lace linens, romantic groupings of varied floral arrangements and abundant candlelight adorned the tables. One of our very favorite details was the gorgeous 40 foot custom weathered pergola that was built by Twigg Botanicals to sit under the canopy tent and housed the long head table with crystal chandeliers hanging above. Guests danced all night, dined on a delicious menu and treated themselves to cupcakes and the ice cream station before leaving with pretty packed popcorn bags for them to enjoy. It truly was a beautiful evening and a walk to remember. We wish them all the best in their continued journey!
