I am a firm believer that breakfast foods make anything better. Even if you’re dealing with a drop dead gorgeous wedding, a la Vis Photography, throw in a few waffles and purple sprinkled donuts and somehow it’s even better. That’s what you’re about to lays eyes on loves. A wedding so beautiful plus a brunch reception, complete with purple sprinkles.
From the beautiful bride… Call us crazy, but we wholeheartedly believe you cannot go wrong with donuts, waffles, and omelets! We dreamed of being surrounded by all of the many people we love, having fun, being outdoors, and enjoying brunch! We loved the rustic, elegant garden setting at Maravilla Gardens. A Sunday brunch wedding was a first for Maravilla and we are so happy that they, along with Command Performance Catering, jumped on board to give us the most amazing day, with the most incredible food!
Our décor was inspired by our occupations, my love of the color purple, and incorporating sunflowers in honor of my mom. We wanted to accent the beauty that Maravilla Gardens already had, and each decorative project was truly a labor of love from so many friends and family members! I am an elementary school teacher, and Eric is a chemist. We added beakers to each centerpiece, and our florist did an outstanding job putting purples, whites, and even a hint of orange into each arrangement. My dear friend Ari was the mastermind behind all of our chalkboards. From our “Roll Call” guest book and Periodic Table seating chart, to our 100+ sunflowers and chalkboard to match, there was no shortage of creativity, love, and mastery that went into our many chalkboard displays. In addition, another dear friend of mine, Christina, made homemade hand pies and packaged them all with clever sayings that totally fit our theme as a gift to our guests.
Lastly, being a teacher, I was inspired to give all of the kids in attendance something to do. This came in the form of goody buckets at their very own “Kid Table”, and a giant cardboard house for them to color and play in. I knew that giving them things to do would not only keep them busy and having fun, but would allow their parents to enjoy their time as well.
We were also inspired by Leah and Rob of Vis photography. They had photographed so may of my friend’s weddings, that every time I went to one and saw their work, I knew I HAD to have them photograph my wedding. We are so lucky to have had them capture our wedding day!
