From the Bride... We met at our friends BBQ birthday party in May of 2005. We randomly started talking. We never went to the same school or worked together, but he was a TV editor and I just got a production assistant job at the CG Animation Studios. So we were kind of in the same industry and started talking about it. He was 25 then turning 26, and I just turned 23.

On December 31, 2011 Jon proposed to me in Venice, Italy on a gondola!! He wanted to propose to me in Rome and Florence before that, but didn’t have the chance. Gondola rides are really expensive, so I didn’t want to go on one and I just said let’s get on the water bus. Good thing he made me get on it!

The vision for our wedding was something outdoor, vintage-ish + something Japanese to it, too. And also a laid back style. Theme color was Yellow and Grey. We had 185 wedding guests and Saddlerock Ranch was one of the few places that could hold that many people (near Los Angeles). And of course, it was beautiful and we fell in love with it!

Our friend married us and my family and friends from Japan were there, as well. We also wrote our own vows and I started with Dear Jon (ha!). It was like a letter to each other-- a very funny and laid-back, short ceremony, yet emotional at the same time. Also, we picked ALL of the ceremony songs and that made it even better.

At the reception, many people already knew each other. In addition to our family, we invited a lot of our close friends and almost everyone we invited came to the wedding! They all said they had so much fun! They also raved about our food. We didn’t really care about cake, so we just decided to do small deserts and one normal size cake to cut. Our wonderful catering company had great cakes and desserts so that part was an easy decision. For favors, my parents brought traditional Japanese sugar candy with them from Japan. The favors said "Arigatou" (thank you!).
