Matilda Bay Wedding from Marc Ash Photography

I love a wedding that takes a cue from nature and lets the flowers add a big dose of color. It always makes for the prettiest of affairs. With bright, happy blooms by Natural Art by Rebecca Grace and a day so beautifully captured by Marc Ash Photography, this is proof that sometimes the prettiest weddings are simple and au naturel. From the Bride...Our wedding was held on a beautiful balmy day in March 2013. My husband Aaron and I are a relaxed, easy-going couple and wanted our day to reflect just that, which is why we chose to have a marquee cocktail reception by the river in the beautiful suburb of Crawley in Western Australia. We also chose to do a "first-look" which calmed our nerves before the main event! Having Aaron see me for the first time with just ourselves was an incredible moment and I'll never forget the look on his face. We had our photos in various locations before making our way to the ceremony area, which was held underneath a large fig tree on the river at Matilda Bay. It was also right next to our marquee so after the ceremony the 115 guests were able to walk 30m to the reception - and as we had already completed photos we were able to join them for the partying straightaway! Our ceremony included a very personal releasing of balloons in honour of close family members not being able to be there on the day and we also had a gorgeous reading entitled "To love is not to possess" by James Kauvanagh.

We both wanted the theme of our wedding to be relaxed, fun, modern and bright and we really wanted to work with the beautiful backdrop of greenery and riverside which is Matilda Bay. My bridemaids each chose their own dresses to suit their style and the groom and groomsmen had Australian wool suits in a light tan colour which suited our relaxed theme. I wore a pure-white, fitted tulle gown from Hobnob bridal with hair-flower and sash from Etsy seller Abigail Grace Bridal. After the ceremony I replaced these with a gorgeous hand-made pearl and crystal necklace from All Things Tinsel (another superb Etsy seller!)

Rebecca from Natural Art did an absolutely amazing job with our flowers - she truly brought the whole "look" together and was able to match the beautiful summer colours from the colours on our home-made invites. She also created a large hanging centrepiece for the centre of the marquee which was incredible! Cupcakes by Caela created a beautiful stand of white mud chocolate cupcakes dressed in lace doilies which were delicious. Pedersens Hire also worked closely with Rebecca from Natural Art to set up our marquee, wine-barrel cocktail tables and purpose built bar and decorate the marquee to tie in with the beautiful scenery outside. Brad from Wallis Catering served yummy canapes, mini beef and gravy rolls and fish and chip boxes to our hungry guests. Marc Ash Photography truly captured our wedding perfectly. We wanted to capture the emotions from the day and have candid photos of our guests and ourselves which he did brilliantly! His work is so incredible and we loved his photos. We had the most fun, relaxed, love-filled, happy, joyous day and could not have asked for anything else!
