From Caitlin Kellagher of CJK VisualsRain or shine, there’s no better way to celebrate an engagement than giving it a Fourth of July twist! Bring out your friends and soon-to-be-combined families out for some delicious and simple desserts. From the fun, firework-inspired strawberry shortcake, to the four-ingredient cherry cobbler, these treats will be sure to keep everyone around to celebrate! Our styled engagement party made use of various mason jars to hold a delicious fruit punch mixed with blueberries and a watermelon, mint and lime infused water! All of the decorations, including the burlap and lace were purchased from inexpensive retailers, including Home Goods, Joanne Fabrics, and Target. The whimsical flower head pieces were created with floral wire, floral tape, and a $6 bunch of flowers from the local grocery store. Even as the evening went on and the rain came out, our couple continued to make the most of a hot summer day and cozied up on the beautiful eastern Maryland farm land.

Cherry Cobbler Bake

1 can cherry pie filling

1 can crushed pineapple

1 boxed yellow cake

1 stick of butter

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Combine the pineapple and cherry filling in a casserole dish by mixing the two fruits together. Do not drain the pineapple. Sprinkle almost a full box of yellow cake on top of the fruit.

Place slices of butter across the entire dish and then sprinkle some of the remaining cake mix on top.

Place in the oven for about 30 minutes or until the top is a golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla bean ice cream and top with some blueberries for a patriotic red, white, and blue look!
