Anne Robert is as sweet as they come and she also happens to be a crazy talented photographer. The likes of which we openly embrace around these parts. And you know what they say about birds of a feather. It certainly rings true for this affair. Simply Chic Events and Holly Heider Chapple Flowers have blanketed this Virginia wedding with so much goodness. The kind of goodness that is crazy elegant yet totally personalized to this couple and where they first met – on a trek up Mt. Everest in Nepal! Have a look at the full gallery for even more.
From Simply Chic Events..I was smitten within five minutes of talking with Becca! I fell completely in love with her and the incredible love story she + Ben share. The couple met in April 2007 in Kathmandu, Nepal, at the beginning of a trek to the Base Camp of Mount Everest. Becca was traveling alone and met Ben’s father at the Kathmandu airport. Ben’s father immediately recognized Becca as someone he must introduce to his son – and he did! The couple spent a day together in Kathmandu getting to know each other, but they parted for their respective treks without plans to ever see each other again. Though a second encounter was never planned, Becca + Ben randomly crossed paths on three occasions on their way to Base Camp. The final meeting resulted in plans to spend the summer traveling together before they both departed to law school. With Becca at Stanford and Ben at Yale, Becca transferred after their first year of law school and they moved to Washington, D.C. upon graduation. Becca + Ben took a brief trip to Iceland this January and when the Northern Lights appeared on their first night there, Ben proposed. Becca said yes! It was important to Becca + Ben for their wedding day to reflect the incredible experiences they have shared. I was, of course, inspired by their amazing love story and tried to find ways to pay it homage. The seating card table served as a primary design element that featured a hand-rendered map (by artist, Niki Chandler) of Becca + Ben’s infamous trek, compass seating cards (by calligrapher, Laura Hooper), and annotated art to help tell their story. We had a local artist create “mini Mt. Everest” replicas that served as table numbers, and infused the reception decor with glass camping lanterns, and elements that are commonly found while on a trek. The Nepali prayer clothes that Ben brought back from his trip up the mountain casually adorned their sweet cake table. They wanted their day to feel personal, elegant and natural, and I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to help bring their vision to life!
