From the Bride… From the moment Jason proposed to me in a helicopter overlooking the Atlanta skyline, I knew I wanted an elegant, yet glamorous affair. I have always loved black and white (take a peek inside my closet!), but wanted to accent them with dark purple and silver for our October wedding. With this idea in mind, I immediately started planning for our big day with the best wedding planner ever, my mom!
After touring several venues, we fell in love with Chattahoochee Country Club on Lake Lanier. It didn’t have that typical country club feel due to the grand Patio Pavilion for our cocktail hour with the stacked stone outdoor fireplace and fountain. The glamorous ballroom had a gorgeous view of the lake with twinkling canopy lights draped from the ceiling that illuminated the chandeliers.
The custom invitations were designed from Etsy and printed by my family’s printing company in order to keep everything local. I love chandeliers, so I incorporated this into our wedding programs and by bringing in a chandelier for the outdoor wedding ceremony. We used billowy white fabric and baby’s breath to create a beautiful focal point for the ceremony that allowed me to capture my Pinterest vision, yet stay within budget.
Keeping in theme with the chandeliers, I wanted my jewelry and my bridesmaids jewelry to really stand out among the crowd. My girls and I wore statement pieces that accentuated the glamorous feel of the wedding and the groom and groomsmen were the perfect Southern gentlemen with cotton boutonnieres.
One of the more special moments of the night was when my brother walked me down the aisle. He is such an inspiration after overcoming many obstacles in his life and I wanted to honor him for all his achievements. He also granted me a brother/sister dance to “Do You Love Me?” from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, my all-time favorite movie!
After our sunset ceremony, guests were treated to our signature cocktails, the Gentlemen and the Blonde. For dinner we served crab cakes, apple smoked pork tenderloin, fried green beans, macaroni and cheese, squash casserole, buttermilk biscuits and many other Southern dishes! The wedding cake consisted of four different flavors of pound cake and the grooms cake highlighted my husband’s love of golf and UGA with two flavors of cheesecake. At the end of the night, servers came back out with homemade oreo cheesecake ice cream and brownie sundaes and homemade pistachio ice cream and cookie sundaes. Needless to say, they were the hit of the late night dance party!
A vintage 1954 white Bentley whisked us away into the night after our sparkler departure. We could not have asked for a more perfect ending to our fairytale wedding!
