Ok, it doesn’t get more adorable than this library shoot from Peter Gubernat, and it had a lot to do with the stylish couple in the center of it all. And if their engagement shoot is this fabulous, can you even imagine what their wedding will be like? Because these two are the definition of fabulous, and you can see every last minute of their fun e-shoot right here.
From the Bride… For every child who gets lost for hours in a good book, the library is a magical place. The rows upon stacks upon piles of books are adventures waiting to happen, new worlds to explore, and new friends to meet. The knowledge of the entire world, it seems, is wrapped in myriads of covers and collecting dust on a shelf while it waits for someone new to come along and ask questions. I’ve never lost my childhood fascination with the mystique of masses of books and that sort of literary magic is the kind I’ve been in love with for as long as I’ve been able to hold a book, before I could even decipher the shapes on the page as words.
Where better for two book lovers to hold their engagement shoot than in a library? We (Christiana and Jim) met at work and became fast friends, eventually falling in love over chai tea lattes and a shared love of the written word. We write notes to each other daily and read books out loud together. Our elegant, literature-inspired wedding is 8/31/13 with touches of Irish heritage, vintage books, and of course handwritten vows all planned. We wanted to explore the quiet, magical, secretive nature of the library in our engagement shoot and our photographer did an amazing job!
Finding a library to shoot in was harder than it seems since many don’t allow photography. Luckily, my alma mater had no such restrictions. The shoot took place on a sunny May day that didn’t rain as promised so we took a few more photos outside with the Chicago skyline. I think the work we all put into styling the shoot and the joy and fun we have together is clearly evident!
