This shoot was designed around 1920’s vintage flare to capture the era that was full of glamour and glitz. I wanted to have details that were very genuine to the images painted in the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The women were painted as very beautiful and poised with flawless elegance. My inspiration came mostly when reading about Gatsby’s lavish mansion parties. The high-class society entertained and celebrated life with music, love, and lots of sparkle.

Sparkle, glitz, and glam were a primary element I wanted to incorporate throughout all the details. The main colors were black, gold, white, ivory, pearl, and silver. The table linens chosen were black chiffon sequined a rosette textured pattern. Strands of pearls accented the linens between the florals and candleholders. The black satin napkins with jeweled napkins rings countered the gold charger plates and added lots of sparkle and glitz. Gold chiavari chairs were a great accent piece to bring out the gold tones.

The centerpieces were designed around white hydrangeas, ivory vendela roses, and white phalaenopsis orchids and were loosely arranged on elevated glass tulip vases with hanging crystals and draped pearl accents. Sounding the floral arrangements, were multiple level vases with bouquets of white tulips, roses, hydrangeas, and orchids shooting over each edge to create a fuller look below the slim vases. I used multi-leveled candleholders to bring in a romantic ambiance and capture the sparkle all around. The photographer captured the shoot beautifully using natural light, delicate poses, and vintage filters using both film and digital cameras. He was very animated and painted the tone verbally to capture the models in their elegance.

Ivory shimmer paper was selected to create an elegant and bright foreground for the black text and gold backing. The fonts used were a mixture of vintage and contemporary styles using various sizes and alignments. Gold borders and clipart where added to add a vintage look. Professional models participated in this shoot and were styled with vintage glam in mind. The attire was very clean and sophisticated with Designs by Casablanca and Justin Alexander. Selections had subtle textures and rhinestone details to emphasize the elaborate jewelry and headpieces popular in this era. I wanted the make up to look very fresh and simple with a bold lip and nude eyes.

The Bride wore fitted lace gowns with vintage lace and jewel encrusted headband and head veil. Her make up was very fair toned with the bold lip and elegant eyes and side swept pin curls. The Groom wore a classic tux with bow tie and side swept hair. The maid of honor wore fitted satin gowns with elaborate head and jewelry accents. Dessert Bar: Sequined linens, feathers, gold platters and stands were used to prop up multiple sweets.
