Today we have a lesson in Southern weddings done right. Of course, Cedarwood Weddings is a must, and with the added mason jars, beautiful blooms, and amazing cupcake tower (seriously… how great is that?), this wedding from Love is a Big Deal is kind of my favorite. It’s sweet, it’s hospitable, and it’s filled with so much Southern Charm. You’re going to adore it.
From the beautiful bride… Daniel and I wanted two main things for our wedding – a beautiful outdoor setting and a fun, casual experience for our guests. We found both at Cedarwood.
Historic Cedarwood was the first and only location we looked at when searching for a wedding venue. Since most of my family was flying in from New England, we wanted to find somewhere that we could have both the ceremony and reception in order to cut down on travel for out-of-town guests. Cedarwood had several beautiful options for ceremony sites and the covered patio allowed us a place to dance and set up food and drinks without having to worry about the weather.
Since the first meeting with the Cedarwood team, we could tell our wedding was going to turn out exactly as we had pictured it. Cedarwood has amazing floral designs and lots of vintage pieces to use in ceremony and reception decor. They worked with us to make our vision come to life, and it turned out just the way we had hoped.
I moved to Nashville from New Jersey several years ago and fell in love with Tennessee and living in the south. Daniel grew up in Tennessee and we both wanted the wedding to have a laid-back southern feel to it. The mason jars, lace, burlap and old barn helped us to accomplish that.
We wanted the entire day to have a romantic look, so we chose light pink, peach and aqua as our main colors. We accented with lace, burlap and vintage blue pieces. The bridesmaids wore long dresses and the groomsmen had matching blue ties. The wedding party was stunning.
In order to provide a fun atmosphere at the reception, went with an 80’s band that had everyone up and dancing the entire night. We also chose to go with an informal invitation and set up a photo booth, which proved to be very entertaining. Our photographers – Love is a Big Deal – were there to capture all of the fun on camera, and they did so beautifully.
Overall, Daniel and I just wanted our wedding to be a night that our family and friends really enjoyed. It was everything we hoped it would be, and a year later we still look back and pictures and talk about what a great time it was. Our vendors were some of the best ones in Tennessee, and we are truly thankful to all of them for helping to make our special day so perfect.
