Chicago Wedding from Nika Vaughn, Makeup Artist + Maypole Studios

Chicago, when it comes to weddings, you never disappoint. In fact, with weddings like this one from Maypole Studios?  You simply leave me in awe. In awe of all the beautiful places to tie the knot in your gorgeous city limits like the 63rd Street Beach House, and all the talent (FLEUR DU JOUR and Nika Vaughan, Makeup Artists to name a few) that call your pretty streets home. But above all, it’s the couples like this one sitting pretty in this gallery that make me fall in love with your weddings over and over again – and you can see why here.

And you can even more from this gorgeous day thanks to Shangri-La Wedding Films

From the Bride…We used a travel book, and asked our guests to sign in on their dream locations.  We then used some of the ideas to plan our honeymoon to Thailand and Cambodia. Sally and Jesse’s wedding was all about having their friends and family around as they started this exciting, new journey together.  There were such great details like Sally’s nephew carrying the ring down the aisle in the ring box that her grandfather proposed to her grandmother with.  Another, and my personal favorite, were the bracelets printed with the longitude and latitude of where Sally met each of her bridesmaids.  Talk about a tear-jerker!  Sally would say that that aside from getting a smooch from her new husband, “having our loved ones from many locations all come together as one group of the most amazing people in the world was the best detail.”

Minutes a way from the heart of downtown Chicago, Sally and Jesse transformed the 63rd Street Beach house into a destination wedding that included all their loved ones. Silver and glassware for the flowers and tables were collected by all of their family members from estate sales, as well as vintage handkerchiefs printed for the programs. Sally created the Save the Date notices and the envelopes for the invitations from old postcards of the 63rd street beach house from the 1930’s she’d found online. Jesse’s dad made the maple syrup favors from their home in upstate New York, and Sally and Jesse’s sister created the table numbers out of maps cut from old encyclopedias, and on the opposite side they attached the menu done in calligraphy.  Sally shared “We really enjoyed planning all of the little details of the wedding.  Plus, it was so special that our families helped us make our vision a reality.  It was a true family effort in searching for the vintage handkerchiefs, silver, suitcases, little syrup bottles, our handmade menus, table numbers, gift bags and more!
