Umm… this wedding? It’s awesome. Awesome in that way that every single Austin wedding we see seems to possess. You know what I am talking about – that crazy cool meets seriously sophisticated meets downright whimsical Austin charm? This wedding has it, and it’s bursting from every last second designed by Ana Louisa Perkins, planned by Country Sugar and captured by Matthew Moore Photography. It’s an Austin charmer from start to finish and it’s what we’re calling a definite must-see. Join me in the gallery for all of the pretty.
From Ana Loisa Perkins… Planning this wedding with Dorothy and Mike was so much fun. The couple wanted a festive but elegant evening and, above all, a great party to celebrate with friends and family. The weather was ideal for the outdoor ceremony, held against a backdrop of bunting that Dorothy had made with her sisters and bridesmaids. Mercury Hall has a peaceful lawn that was perfect for the nuptials and since the ceremony was close to sundown, the whole scene was bathed in a rosy glow. As processional music, friends of the couple played a rendition of Santo and Johnny’s Sleep Walk—romantic and cool at the same time! Hard to pull off. Bubbly Palomas, vintage design elements and pink and yellow floral arrangements all gave the reception a celebratory feeling while the white tent kept it elegant. Instead of a guestbook, we used vintage floral tins and note cards in varying colors for guests to leave Dot and Mike a note. I loved the idea of the couple putting the notes up around their house after the ceremony to remember their special night.
Though it might sound corny, there really was a palpable joy in the air from the moment Dorothy walked down the aisle, luminous in her gorgeous dress, to the last sparkler going out when the couple made their exit. It was the perfect evening: a dreamy December night, two people in love surrounded by family and friends, and a little bit of magic.
