Coffee Shop Wedding Inspiration from Shelly Spithoff Photography
Here's an awesome idea: a wedding in a coffee shop. A drop-dead gorgeous coffee shop with farm tables and vibrant, sunny yellow chairs. And that's exactly the thought that the talented Shelly Spithoff had when she stepped foot into the amazing Cannon Coffee Co., a gorgeous little space perfect for an intimate wedding. The result? A sweetly crafted day of inspiration with beautiful blooms from iFiori and bundles upon bundles of pretty. See it all in the full gallery.
From Shelly Spithoff Photography... The minute I stepped foot into the Cannon Coffee Co, my neighbourhood coffee shop, I fell in love with its huge windows, its bright yellow chairs, and its coffee. The shop just oozes charm. The seeds for a photo shoot were immediately planted in my mind.
I planned this styled shoot for the bride who wants a small, cozy, intimate, simple wedding with lots of style and charm but minus the huge price tag and the crazy amounts of stress that comes with large weddings. This was a homegrown affair with all the vendors being entrepreneurs in and near Hamilton. The theme and style of the shoot revolved around the Cannon Coffee Co itself. Since the main colour of the Cannon's interior was yellow we decided to go with that and work with it. Besides who doesn't love a cheerful yellow? Navy was decided as a nice accent colour that would compliment the yellow and add to it instead of fighting with it. So the cake and the florals were designed to fit the personality of the Cannon.
I borrowed one vintage dress from White Elephant Co, an awesome local boutique that specializes in authentic vintage dresses from the 40's, 50's, 60's. I totally loved the combination of a small train with a short dress. The other dress from BHDLN belonged to the model Chantelle who actually wore it as her going away dress for her wedding last year. The vintage feel and the yellow belt fit perfectly with the style and the colour scheme of the shoot.
To give the shop a bit more of a festive feel without it feeling crowded, I filled the back hallway with bright yellow balloons and used some as center pieces for the smaller tables. But instead of using the usual ribbon, I used twine. I think this gave the balloons a more rustic feel and less childlike. The balloon weights were made with Ferrero Rochers wrapped in yellow Japanese tissue from The Paper Place in Toronto. They took less than an hour to make.
To go with the feel of the coffee shop and dresses, I wanted something simple yet chic and elegant for the brides' makeup and hair. I showed some pictures of Rachel McAdams' hair and makeup in the Notebook to Jamie of Glam Gorgeous and he meticulously brought it to life with his own unique flair.
And then...Ta-Da!
It was relatively easy to pull together because of the expertise of all the different creative vendors involved, and the little DIY that was needed didn't take too much work. I would definitely see this working for a small wedding, a rehearsal dinner, or a bridal shower.
