Sunbury Wedding from Pomp and Splendour

From Pomp and Splendour...This is a beautiful Korean- Australian wedding that took place at Goona Warra Winery 30 minutes outside of Melbourne. The bride and groom had a traditional Korean Bridal tea Ceremony in the morning and then a more Western style wedding ceremony later on. I was the florist on this occassion. The bride wanted to get married under a beautifully decorated canopy of fresh flowers. The wedding took place in early September which is very early in the spring. The canopy at the venue is usually covered with a David Austin rose bush, however it had not yet started to flower, only beginning to green up! We covered the canopy with groupings of fresh spring jasmine vine and collections of spring bulb flowers, tulips, stock and double daffodils with wild features of rambling rose bush stems. We hung bottles of flowers from the bare trees around the ceremony to add some colour and interest. We carried on the theme with bottles and jars of spring flowers inside at the reception. There were burlap table runners, so we tied little pieces of burlap here and there onto the jars with twine to keep the rustic look consistent. The bride wanted her bouquet to be seasonal blooms in pastel tones which we created using Hyacinth, Ranuncula, soft coloured Poppies, Roses and Hellebores. The maids had brighter colours in their bouquets, more watermelon tones and slightly warmer and more festive colours were chosen.
