Red + Pink are a lethal combo of color goodness and that palette is not just for Valentine’s Day anymore. Nope, it also plays crazy nice with these Australia “I Do’s”. They’re setting a new bar for weddings down under with rustic details and vivid color crafted by CL Weddings & Events, Mondo Floral Design and Twig & Grace. From the Bride…I’m not sure how to start a story about our wedding day. At first I wanted to give you the wedding planners version , then I tried writing it from how I thought a future bride would see the wedding day, now I realise I just have to write it as it happened, as we felt it and as we remember it. We knew as soon as the date was set the suppliers we wanted involved in our day, it wasn’t just a choice of who was the best or who would work the hardest for us, it was definitely who we wanted to share our day with, those we wished to share in our fun loving day of celebration and family. It helped that there all the best in their field, it helped that each one knew Dan I so well that we really didn’t have to manage them much. Our amazing suppliers used a brief guide of our styling and the feel we wanted to create and off they went. We left them to do their thing and knew the results of trusting them would pay off in more ways than “WOW”
Dan and I planned the most part of our wedding in 8 weeks, we didn’t put too much stress into things, we suffered the same pitfalls as all other couples – budget constraints, family dilemmas, venue changes at the last minute and of course a few course changes in the dress design. It was hard one day being wedding planner and one day being bride, there was an immense pressure on us to produce something pretty amazing (what ever that meant) after all, eyes were on my business to see what I’d produce. I couldn’t let this worry me, although some days it did, I had to remember why we were doing all of this. A day to celebrate our family becoming one with those we love surrounded by things we love. After all we were just two people in love wanting to have a wedding that worked for us.
Our wedding was a mixture of all things we love, it didn’t quite make a ‘theme’ or a style pattern, we didn’t even have a colour board, just lots of cool ideas that we liked and knew we could pull off with the help of our superb florists. I have great friendships with both Terrianne from Mondo Floral Designs and Dezly from Twig and Grace, these two ladies bring so much happiness and deep friendship into my life. Although quite unconventional I asked one to help with my reception flowers and the other to help with my bouquet and ceremony flowers. They both blew me away with their work, I knew they would but it was so amazing to have that feeling on the day. To walk into your wedding day and feel that amazing feeling of being wowed by your ideas and the love put into the work laid out before us. Food is very important to both of us, Dan is a chef and our favourite thing to do is eat! We took a leisurely day eating food, drinking wine and cut our speeches into short breaks between our 7 course degustation menu.
Music and Dancing is a big deal for me, so its no surprise that we had a full dance floor long before the first dance. Its a tradition breaker I know but its exactly my idea of a great wedding! Our band were exceptional, made up again of very talented friends. I loved my wedding day, I’d do it again and again if I could. I wouldn’t change a thing – oh maybe I’d stay a little longer… I just never wanted the day to end. Thanks to all those that played a part.
