If there’s one bridal trend I’m completly on board with, it’s the roaring twenties-esque wedding. It’s one part retro plus a whole lot of glam, and we’re seeing it executed in real weddings of every shape and size. And while theme-driven weddings are all too easy to over-do, this photo shoot from Rachel Gomez strikes the perfect balance of sophistication and style. Let’s kick back and raise our glass (or, coffee mug) to this twenties affair done right!
From Rachel Gomez Photography…This shoot felt so organic from start to finish. 1920s inspiration, met with 2013 Color of the Year, and the perfect “brand new” 106-year-old venue. I worked to create an intimate affair in a revived and retrofitted space, allowing the vintage and modern elements to come together. I wanted to create this for the couple that would be inspired by the decade and venue, rather than trying to recreate something from that time. Se we mixed the old and new and used emerald accents to tie everything together.
The bride wore an incredible gown from Temperley London, and a stunning veil mixed with modern and vintage accessories. Wanting to keep things feeling easy, she wore clean make up and loose finger waves in her hair. The groom wore a classic tux, and really allowed his bride shine.
The bouquet was a mix of fresh roses, rice flower, ranunculus, lisianthus, tulips, scabiosa blooms, chamomile and silver dollar eucalyptus, tied together with vintage velvet ribbon. Mandy and I worked together to bring the feel of a garden party, into the McNichols Building. I fell in love with the marble and granite, columns and windows, original staircase and black and white marble floor. All of the elements in the shoot were carefully chosen; from the vintage French wedding shoes, the dessert plates, champagne bucket, vintage ribbon and loose coquetail feathers, and of course, the incredible Neapolitan Wedding Cake, with an amazing gold frosting. Our entire team had a wonderful time creating this shoot for you.
