There’s a little somethin’ special about a Southern wedding that can’t be duplicated elsewhere and that somethin’ special is called “Southern Charm.” It’s a downright prettiness that exudes from every single wedding we feature – and the exact reason these two sweeties chose the breathtaking city of Savannah for their destination soiree. A soiree that was chock-full of Southern loveliness, from the lush florals from A to Zinnias to the fab stylings of Dairing Events to the downright magical images captured by LeeAnn Ritch Photography. From the Bride… Savannah, Georgia was the perfect choice for Ryan and me. An April wedding with the season’s new blooms, the cobblestone streets, historic homes, old-world charm and romance at every turn… one can only feel at home and yet this was our destination wedding.
Together with our family and closest friends we exchanged our vows in the ballroom of the historic and beautiful Mansion on Forsyth. The graciousness and Southern hospitality of the staff made the occasion that much more special. As the doors to the ballroom opened and I made my way with my brother down the aisle, carrying my father’s class ring pinned to my bouquet, I felt nothing but surrounded by love. That was by far the best moment of my life.
We especially appreciated how beautiful Forsyth Park was for our photo session and time for reflection. The majestic oak trees with their hanging spanish moss were the reason why we fell in love with the city.
As the sun began to set, our family and friends gathered on our wedding trolley, that would take them to our reception at the Harper Fowlkes house. The venue was intimate and romantic, just as we had planned for. Each place setting was set with a thank you to our friends and family and a fresh peach adorned with a name scroll, a hand made personal touch from the bride, me. Our wedding coordinator, Adair, did an amazing job executing the vision we had planned for our wedding. From our floral arrangements, to the bowls of overflowing peaches scenting the air, the candle light against the crisp white linens and chevron napkins, our signature truly shined through and I saw my dream become a reality.
Dining and dancing with our loved ones continued well into the evening and then the fireworks (well at least they felt like fireworks). Actually large hand held sparklers held by all of our loved ones lined the entire street and made an archway as we dashed hand in hand towards the waiting car, blew a kiss and began our journey together as one.
Oh and by the way, did I mention it was our five-year anniversary?
