It only took one look through this wedding to convince me Barossa Valley wine country is the prettiest place to marry. And although I’ve never been, I like to imagine this locale as the setting of my next big vacation, or far-off-in-the-future vow renewal, perhaps? But until that day I’ll be perfectly content poring through this stunning affair. The photos from Eon Images have me falling hard, and I’m positive you’ll heart it too. Join me as I swoon the afternoon away right here.
From the Bride…After nearly twelve years together, Ronan proposed during a trip to the Greek Islands in 2011 (much to my surprise and utter amazement!) Our wedding took place on December 22nd 2012 in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. We chose to have our wedding in wine country because we spend much of our spare time there on many wine tasting expeditions. It has felt like our second home for some time and especially since Ronan and his friends have started on their own wine making adventure. So, good food and wine was essential on the day. The ceremony took place in the Old Union Chapel in the picturesque town of Angaston. Sixty of our closest friends and family attended the event, most of whom had traveled from all ends of the country and from across the world. It was an amazing experience knowing all these guests had traveled so far to celebrate with us. The hot summer’s day turned to a balmy evening as we made our way to the reception at Hentley Farm Winery and Restaurant in Seppeltsfield. As the sun started to set, the band started up and we swing danced to a rendition of ‘Fly Me to The Moon’ followed by many other jazzy numbers and lots of enthusiastic dancing by all. Another highlight was the Heston-inspired edible candles for dessert, which were made by a talented colleague of mine. It was great to have such an interactive and playful wedding cake! As the evening began to come to a close, we made sure we took some time to take it all in and appreciate what a great day it had been.
