My first job ever out of college was at PR firm located right across the street from the beautiful Boston Public Library. I still remember watching a bride walk out of that stately building and thinking to myself, that is one lucky lady. Fast forward to today, and I find myself staring longingly at that stately building again, but this time through the gorgeous images Kelly Dillon Photography. And I find myself saying once again, that is one lucky (gorgeous) lady. See why right here.
From the Bride… George moved next door to me in our small town Junior year in high school. The first time we met I helped him get his cat out of a tree. We became great friends – he even locked me down as a prom date in November! Many long walks around the block and with our first kiss under a streetlight I finally said yes to dating. Throughout high school we shared a locker and were voted class couple Senior year. We stayed together throughout college and settled in Boston and the rest is history!
One night after a long 12 hour shift at work, George picked me up in my scrubs, we went for Pizza around Fenway and on the way home George said we were going on a detour…he pulled the car up next to the Ted Williams statue at the empty Fenway Park, turned on our song, Buddy Holly, and asked me to open the glove box and proposed!
When deciding where to get married we knew we wanted something a bit different. I had always wanted to get married outside and George and I loved places rich in history. I saw the Boston Public library in a wedding magazine and fell in love. We loved the timeless elegance of the Library and the intimate feeling of the courtyard for our ceremony. The details of our wedding seemed to come together so easily and were centered around the romantic, intimate, fun atmosphere we wanted to create. My wedding ring was my grandmother’s and filled with love from their 47 year marriage (her engagement ring I wore on my right hand), our Boston Terrier, Winston, was on the top of our cake (and on George’s tie), our grandparents wedding pictures adorned the mantle behind our table, and I hand made anything I could from the library card place settings to the table numbers.
Everyone at the Boston Public Library was amazing, and I loved the fact they covered the ceremony site, reception, all the food, cake, drinks and rentals, which made wedding planning so much easier. We both love Boston and most of our family lived within an hour of the city. Making it easy for our guests was important to us. The wedding weekend was everything we could have hoped for, from the relaxed rehearsal dinner BBQ at our house to watching my parents shake it on the dance floor – we could truly feel the love from everyone there!
