Harrington Farm Wedding from Kate Preftakes Photography

I compare weddings like this one to that first breath of fresh air after a rainstorm.  You know what I mean… that overwhelming feeling of happiness and contentment that fills your entire body when you open up the front door and soak it all in.  It’s just sooo good.  And this darling gem of a day is just that; a beautiful Harrington Farm affair that leaves you wanting to breathe in every.single.moment.  From the lovely blooms crafted by The Garden Party to the stunning purple hues, there’s not a single second captured by Kate Preftakes that isn’t stop-you-in-your-tracks lovely.  See it all right here.

From the Bride… We chose Harrington Farm for our big day because of it’s rustic, but elegant country setting. I always imagined myself getting married by the water, but when we drove up to this hidden gem, we instantly fell in love. The view was breathtaking, the farmhouse had so much character and the grounds were just absolutely gorgeous. Harrington Farm was so peaceful and we knew, right away, it was our spot.

Because the venue, itself, had so much charm and character, I wanted to keep everything else very simple and natural. I chose my favorite flowers as the centerpieces, which include pink peonies, white hydrangeas and some statice to make them really pop against the ivory linens. I had my sister, my maid of honor, wear an eggplant dress from J.Crew. The color just was so flattering on her and really made the colors of her bouquet stand out. For my wedding dress, I bought the first one I tried on from Madeline’s Daughter, a boutique wedding shop in Portsmouth. The designer was Jenny Yoo and I just thought it was a perfect dress for a natural and romantic look. My hair piece was a chiffon flower from Etsy and I really think it went well with my dress.

To add a few small personal touches, we displayed framed pictures of our parents on their wedding days on the ‘welcome table’ and put a picture of myself and Nat, when we were young, at each table. We had cupcakes made by a family friend, who had just started up a cupcake business and we had another friend play acoustic guitar during the ceremony and cocktail hour.

One of my favorite moment’s of the day was looking out of the bridal suite window and seeing all of our guests walking down to the garden, where we would be saying our vows. All of these people were our nearest and dearest family and friends and I was so happy to be celebrating our love with them. Another one of my favorite moment’s was walking down the aisle to the acoustic instrumental version of ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love with You’ with thunder rumbling in the background and seeing Nat standing there with a big smile on his face.
