From the Bride… Bobby and I met my freshman year in high school. We soon became best friends and two years after that we started dating. We dated for five years before we got engaged my senior year of college at Florida State University. He proposed to me during my fashion internship at Bleubelle Boutique in Savannah, Georgia. He’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me since I was 15-years old.
After we were engaged he was deployed to Afghanistan. I stayed in Savannah to continue working at BleuBelle Bridal. I did most of the wedding planning myself, with the help of my coworkers, my family and our amazing photographer. I knew from the beginning that I wanted our wedding to reflect my very “girly” style– with a romantic Southern feel. Our wedding colors were easy to choose because it’s my favorite color combo — blush and grey.
Bobby and I chose Forsyth Park because it was one of our very first memories we had together when I moved to Savannah. The park is absolutely beautiful and I knew this would be a location we would always visit, even if we move away from Savannah. Our reception spot, Vic’s On The River, was the perfect way to show all of our guests just how beautiful and historic Savannah truly is. The venue has a very old-school feel to it. The balconies face beautiful River Street and our guests loved it.
My sister-in-law (Maid of Honor) and brother moved to Savannah a few months before the wedding and were a huge help. We made all of the chalkboard frames, and spray painted all the frames. My monogrammed guestbook was one of my favorite touches. I’m completely obsessed with monograms and it was a fun way to show off my personality and to have something to hang in our first home together. I got a lot of ideas off of Pinterest and other wedding sites. The chair signs and table numbers were done by a fantastic calligrapher in Savannah, Low Country Calligraphy. Our “thank you” cards were made by our photographer, Kelli Boyd. I had seen something similar on Pinterest and really loved the idea — a way to thank our guests for traveling to Savannah for our special day. We had koozies, designed by totallypromotional.com as favors. Our guests loved them and so did my husband!
At the reception, we chose to serve heavy hors d’oeuvres because the selection of food at Vic’s was just fantastic and very Southern. We had a shrimp and grits station and macaroni and cheese bites that our guests raved about. We chose “Savannah Sweet Tea” as our signature drink — sipping out of mason jars through blush and grey striped straws.
My favorite part of the whole day was the songs our DJ played! When we sent out our invitations, we had included a place for our guests to request a song for the reception. The DJ played almost every single request– all the guests were so enthusiastic and ran to the dance floor every time their song was played!
I know every girl probably says this, but my wedding was truly a dream come true. Our wedding was so intimate and special. It was the type of wedding that you looked around and knew every single person in the room. I married my best friend with my very best friends and family by my side in one of the most beautiful places imaginable!
