This couple has made it through some pretty great, big distances in their relationship (just see below) so at the end of the distance and the beginning of the “we” they decided to throw a gorgeous, and I mean gorgeous, soiree to celebrate their love. And lucky for us, the amazingly talented Daniel Aaron Sprague was on hand to capture the whole thing… so we’ve got a fabulous gallery in which to spend our day!
From the Bride… Chris and I were married in the meadows outside Chris’ family home in Williamstown, Massachusetts. We met seven years before as undergraduates at Middlebury College in Vermont, so we were thrilled to exchange vows with the Green Mountains of Vermont behind us.
When Chris graduated from Middlebury in 2006 and I had one more year of college, we were prepared to go our separate ways but our break-up lasted only two weeks. We decided not to let distance or life circumstances get in the way of a good thing. Since then, we pursued graduate degrees on opposite sides of the country and along the way have made long distance work from the following state combinations: CA-NJ, NY-VT, NY-CA, OH-CA, WA-CA. This only added to our excitement because we knew our wedding symbolized the end of long distance and the beginning of our new chapter as husband and wife.
When I envisioned our wedding day, I wanted bright punchy colors to accent the lush green setting. It was important to both of us that we also celebrate all that is wonderful about New England and the Berkshires in late summer with colorful, seasonal flowers and locally sourced food. I wanted all of my bridesmaids to feel beautiful and comfortable and asked each of them to pick their own yellow dress and whatever shoes they liked best. Their festive footwear signified the personalized and playful feel I wanted to create. One of our favorite keepsakes from the wedding was the certificate that Jenny from Wendu Ink created for us. It is now framed and hanging in our kitchen and we love looking at the signatures of all of the family and friends who surrounded us with their love on our wedding day.
We were so thankful for the special, and unique contributions that our family and friends made to our wedding weekend. My mother, a Superior Court Judge in New Jersey, performed the wedding ceremony that left most guests with a few tears in their eyes. One of my bridesmaids sewed yellow table runners while another worked with her husband to create custom directional signage pointing to important places for our families and wedding party. For dessert, Chris’ parents provided a family favorite, Graeter’s Ice Cream straight from Cincinnati, OH. We departed through an aisle of sparklers and hopped in my father’s 1985 station wagon, which he has proudly owned since I was a baby. Thanks to our incredible vendors and generous family and friends, our wedding was truly everything we dreamed of.
