13:13 Photography? They truly never disappoint. Whenever I spot their name floating in my inbox, I know I am in for the prettiest of treats. So I was just a tad bit excited when I stumbled on this beauty at The National Hotel. Classic with the prettiest of beachy twists, it’s the type of fête that makes my heart pitter patter faster than I ever thought possible. I couldn’t love these sweet nuptials more, and one peek at the pretty in this gallery and you’ll be singing the same tune.
From the Bride… Being a Venezuelan/Israeli couple we knew from the start that we wanted our wedding to be near the beach and in a modern and classy setting! Miami seemed like a perfect place to be “in between” to welcome our international guests in a destination wedding setting. As a young and independent couple we knew exactly what we wanted for our wedding: delicious food, lively music and great people (plus of course plenty of DIY details from me and my mother!). Junior’s Band was a must for the Latin live music as well as bottles of Venezuelan rum that my father brought from home. We knew that the National Hotel would serve an excellent menu and we were so pleased with the food and especially with our chocolate and Dulce de Leche cake from Ana Paz!
We were inspired by classic traditions but with modern twists, so we went for a “beach formal” vibe with black, white and Tiffany blue accents to pick up the ocean colors. The wedding had to be outside and on the beach, which in Miami is definitely a risk! We were lucky enough to get a sunny (but very windy!) gorgeous day to be married. We ordered sunglasses with our names printed on the sides to tie in the beach with the bridal party as there was plenty of sun during the ceremony. Venezuelan superstition dictates sticking two forks in the ground to prevent rain overnight and it worked!
Definitely one of the special touches from our ceremony was that we used two sets of weddings rings to be married: my grandparents gold pair from 1933 (who were married for over 70 years!) and one pair of platinum rings that Yoni purchased with my father. We also used a wooden “Mazel Tov” platform sign that my mother hand painted to break the glass easily in the sand.
We incorporated our mother’s talents for crafts and originality into every detail of our ceremony and reception. Yoni’s mother is an accomplished ceramic and pottery designer in Tel-Aviv and we were so happy we could use her black and white ceramics to compliment the flowers on the tables. Meanwhile, my mother doubled down as “MOB” and event designer by making most of the wedding touches herself. She DIY lots of little details such as: spray painted tiered Tiffany envelope gift, coordinated match boxes for the cigars, tissues, water bottles and give-away bags. Not only that, but she found 120 tiny Tiffany blue boxes with white ribbons to put two macarons in as the wedding favors!
In the end, all the planning paid off as we had the time of our lives that day…every single detail exceeded our expectations. All of our vendors worked perfectly together to welcome our close friends and family and to create a magical Jewish Latin modern and beachy wedding that we will never forget!
