From the Bride… We were married on a beautiful day in mid-September at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, New York.  When we began planning, I was overwhelmed by themes and color combinations but in the end we decide to use a color palette natural to the venue that would let its spirit shine… after all, that’s why we fell in love with this magical place! Many of our guests weren’t familiar with the area so we had a musician play bagpipes outside to guide our guests through the industrial area and into the venue.

A family friend married us which was really special. We spent a lot of time with “Rev. Fred” thinking about what was important to us, choosing our passages and designing a ceremony that was meaningful to us. One of the most memorable parts of our ceremony was the way we incorporated the unity candle ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, after we had lit our candle, our bridal party lit candles from it and very quickly, all of our guests were smiling at us with small candles in hand. We walked out of the room looking at such beautiful light and beaming faces while a french inspired band played Pheonix’s “Lisztomania.” The moment was perfect.

We spent twenty minutes after the ceremony together in a small room eating and taking it all in.  We did all of our pictures before the ceremony and were glad to have so much time spending with our guests at the cocktail hour so we could spend the entire reception on the dance floor. We had the most amazing DJ who kept the energy high. We used the venue’s old trunks to create a gorgeous backdrop for our photo booth and our guests took home silly photos to remember our special day.

Our wedding day was the most memorable and most fun day of our lives!
