New England Wedding Inspiration from Gus & Ruby and Emilie Inc. Photography

The phrase “New England Winter” isn’t always followed with terms of endearment. Maybe because it can be a tad long – but, trust me when I say it’s a beautiful time of year. There is nothing that beats a blanket of snow, a warm fire and that feeling of coziness – so I absolutely love when Brides out there embrace the prettiness of a New England winter wedding. If you are in the midst of planning such a fête, this shoot from the paper mavens at Gus & Ruby Letterpress is the perfect inspiration. Captured by the talented Emilie Inc. Photography and filled with gorgeous florals from Petal Floral Design, it’s so stunning it might even make you summer Brides a bit envious. It’s all topped off with a cake from Wild Orchid Baking Co. and loads of style – so be sure to set aside some time to get cozy with all the goodness in the gallery.

From Gus & Ruby Letterpress… The inspiration behind this shoot was about bringing the beautiful thoughts that come to mind when you think “New England winter wedding” into one concrete vision that was seasonal and elegant, without feeling stereotypical. We wanted the decor to feel plush, abundant and warm without being heavy. Layers of fabric and texture, a palette of warm neutrals, rich pomegranate reds and cypress greens and extraordinary design details all gave nod to the winter season.

Our ceremony space featured whimsical fluttering paper “snowflakes” and potted trees that helped bring the bright & crisp outdoors into the industrial loft space without the bite of winter air. Our bride and groom then settled in for a hearty meal featuring local and seasonal products from The White Apron followed by incredible cakes replete with hand-panted sugar leaves & fruit by Erin of Wild Orchid Baking Co. The rich, full table-scape glowed with warm candles and featured layers of fabric, creative ceramic and intricate glassware. Becca, of Petal Floral Design, went above and beyond with incredible floral arrangements that spilled across the center of the full table top. Loose buck antlers added an extra touch of interest, shape and whimsy. Stationery elements, featuring calligraphy by Alissa of Feast Fine Art & Calligraphy, also incorporated the buck motif and more fabric in the form of a letterpress printed belly band on the invitation suite as well as wrap-around bands bundling custom stationery sets intended to be given as favors for each guest.

As most of the involved vendors had grown up in the Northeast, it was important to us to walk a line between what elements felt true and wintery to us (like lots of cozy fabric and multiple shades of white) and curated elegance that would resonate with sophisticated brides and grooms. The end result was a shoot full of many extraordinary details that were beautiful, seasonal and carefully chosen. We were thrilled to have had the opportunity to craft such a magical day and work with such a magnificent team of talented professionals. And, of course, a big thank you to our dear friends, and real-life couple, Jason & Briana of Brainstorm Print & Design, who generously acted as our handsome models for the day.
