Can I let you in on a little secret of mine? There are days where I’ve longed to be a southern belle. Not only do those southern ladies have serious style (not to mention the cutest darn accent) but they can throw a gorgeous wedding like no other. Exhibit A–this Charleston stunner with the prettiest shade of pink set front and center. Luke Wilson Special Events beautifully brought the bride’s vision to life, and Virgil Bunao captured it all in the most stunning fashion. Pay a visit to the full gallery for even more!
From the Bride…Joel and I met in Charlottesville, Virginia through mutual friends during the first week of our first year at the University of Virginia. He asked me out on a date shortly thereafter and the rest is history. We have so many wonderful memories from that day. For Joel and me, all the friends and family who traveled far and wide to be there coupled with the unending generosity of our families and those close to us is something we will never forget. We also thoroughly enjoyed the comic relief of the speed boat full of unexpected guests whizzing by as we were about to say our vows. OUr Band, Loose Chain, was amazing, and I loved seeing Joel and all of our close friends decked out in Memphis Grizzlies gear at the end of the night. Further, we were also so blessed to have Virgil Bunao capture the special details of our weekend that were expertly orchestrated by Luke Wilson and his team. I have to say though, the amazing day/night aside, waking up the next morning and knowing that I am married to my best friend is the best memory and reality.
Like many couples, Joel and I wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us in every way possible, and most importantly, we wanted our guests to have fun. For me that meant, without question, a ceremony outside and preferably on the waterfront with an amazing party to follow. We explored a number of options and remained undecided. However, after a round of golf at Yeaman’s Hall, my dad called and said he had found the spot where he would like to walk me down the aisle, and he was right. Over the years, my family and I had shared so many fun occasions at Yeaman’s, and the setting overlooking the 8th green was unforgettable. However, the 8th green was also uncharted territory for a wedding ceremony, and of course, choosing a June 2nd date for an outdoor wedding in the heat of a Charleston summer is not without its challenges. However, the ever accommodating staff at Yeaman’s Hall along with amazing Luke Wilson made our vision come true.
From Luke Wilson Special Events: Casey and Joel had a very simple and relaxed style all the while wanting the event to appear well put together and beautifully orchestrated. To accomplish this we mixed in a number of relaxed elements such as vintage lounge seating (and lots of it) along with rustic wood farm tables. We then incorporated some more upscale elements such as vintage lace doilies from the Mother of the Bride’s Mother’s personal collection as well as vintage silver pieces to accent the decor. Bringing in the fun element, we also incorporated window panes that the family had collected through different antique sales as well as one very important piece to the couple: the original Charleston Bed Swing. Casey’s father hand makes each and every bed swing and it is such a comfortable place to lounge. Casey loved the idea of having guests, tired from dancing, lounging in the swing for a quick respite before heading back to the dance floor. We really pulled from every aspect of the couple’s lives to make the event personal and unique. Candied bacon stir sticks at the bar for drinks, the groom’s favorite carrot cake for cutting, the couple’s favorite candy toppings on the ice cream sundae bar and even the recipes for the risotto were take straight from the pages of Casey and Joel’s life together. The night was such a fun, relaxing and love filled atmosphere for all involved.
