Everything about this windy city wedding just happens to be my cup of tea. I’m talking about those sweeping city views, layers upon layers of sparkle, and romantic details galore that add up to maybe the best wedding ever. But the only thing better than this crazy awesome day are all the vendors behind it. Vendors like Birch Design Studio, Kehoe Designs, and Alexandra Kaehler Design (the super talented bride herself) who produced a wedding so flawless, you’d never EVER guess the indoor ceremony was actually a weather-based plan B. Aaron Delesie, being the photo genius that he is, captured a collection of stunning images, and you can find them all right here.
From the Bride…Spencer and I met when we were 17 years old and have been dating ever since. I dreamt of our wedding for years… I had secret folders filled with flowers and dresses saved on my computer long before Pinterest ever existed. A couple years before we got engaged I even shared this not-so-secret folder with Spencer, luckily for me he loved everything I had saved. A couple weeks after we got engaged we started bringing everything to life. The venue was the first and only one we looked at. Suggested by my husband, it fit our need to be close to the city, with our want of something that didn’t feel urban. It was perfect. Marina and her team at Birch truly helped our entire vision come to life perfectly. Being an interior designer, creating the tent felt like designing a house and I was so happy when it all came together. The day of our wedding was the most amazing day of our lives. The weather definitely didn’t cooperate for our planned outdoor ceremony but we got to dance the night away with every single person we know and love regardless!
A couple highlights from the night… When our good friend, comedian and officiant let everyone in on the secret of how Spencer truly proposed. He had always told me girls and boys couldn’t be best friends and although I disagreed, he felt strongly (for 8 YEARS!), when he went to propose, there was a note in the ring box that said “to my best friend, will you marry me?”. Following my dad’s speech, he surprised 350 guests by singing “I Will” by the Beatles (he doesn’t sing, but had taken voice lessons for 6 months prior to the wedding). And finally, Spencer and I being the very last ones to leave at 2:00am. It was too much fun to possibly leave early!
