From the Bride... The theme of our wedding was simple elegance with a vintage twist. I always envisioned getting married in the beautiful church of St. Rose, where I had attended school for thirteen years. Walking down the aisle, I was flooded with memories of all the times I had spent at St. Rose and excited for the future memories we would create as husband and wife. My groom knew the significance of this ceremony site, and was so supportive in the entire planning process.

Being from small hometowns, our friends and family were all well acquainted. We chose the English Manor as our reception venue because the layout of the ballroom brought everyone together to be a part of our day. We are both very family oriented and it was important to have a reception site which would reflect our values. Moreover, the beautiful grounds fit perfectly with our theme of simple elegance. The landscaping and gazebos provided for breathtaking photo opportunities, which our photographer captured beautifully.

Our bridal party was a direct reflection on who we are; it was filled with lifelong childhood friends, college friends, and family members. We chose a trolley as our form of transportation because we wanted our bridal party and parents all together to celebrate between the ceremony and reception. The trolley was also a beautiful touch to our beach photos and fit perfectly with the feel I wanted for the wedding.

Everyone who knows the groom can tell you his favorite color is orange (mine is green). As soon as we were engaged, people were asking how we would incorporate orange into the big day. My response: flowers. Our favorite colors were the inspiration behind the dusty shale bridesmaid dresses, the green and blue groomsmen ties, the orange in the groom’s tie and the boutonnieres. Since the bridesmaid dresses were a lighter color, I wanted a bright flower to make everything pop; hence the pink peonies. Mixed in with them were elegant garden roses and dusty miller, which was a perfect match to the bridesmaid dresses.

The bridal gown was the finishing touch on my entire theme. The elegant lace entwined with beading, was a perfect match for me. It was truly my dream gown; I wish I could wear it to more events! My parents were truly amazing in helping us have our dream wedding, and the groom’s mother organized a gorgeous rehearsal dinner on the beach, which reflected where we had both grown up, and where we would now build a life together.
