Let’s face it. When it comes to wedding venues, a picturesque vineyard is about as good as it gets. From the sprawling stretch of green to the inherent rustic feel, it’s the kind of setting that just begs to play backdrop to a beautiful “I do.” And this Oregon duo planned their big day in the one of the prettiest vineyards around with the help of Vibrant Table and Luxe Event Productions. With a dreamy yet approachable design, they were able to transform an unassuming shed into a reception space of elegance galore. From the Bride…Ryan and I met while traveling throughout Europe. He, a small town boy from Australia, was traveling with two of his close childhood friends and I, an East Coast city girl, was with three of my closest girlfriends. We instantly hit it off and became inseparable. When the month-long tour came to an end, saying goodbye at London-Heathrow airport was the hardest thing ever. However, deep down, we knew our lives would cross paths again. Seven years later, after many long distance phone calls, ridiculous amounts of frequent flier miles earned, and international work visas so that we could both live and work in each other’s country, Ryan proposed in Pacific City on the Oregon Coast.
Upon getting engaged, the hardest decision was deciding where to get married. In Europe where it all started? In Northern Virginia where I’m from? Or, in South Australia where we lived together for several years and where Ryan’s from? We currently live in Oregon on the vineyard that Ryan manages and ultimately decided that it would be most special to get married where we have started to build our lives together—here in the Willamette Valley.
As cliche as it sounds, our wedding day was the best day of our lives. We wanted to create a beautiful space within a rustic surrounding, something that we thought would best represent the two of us. With so many of our family and friends flying in from all over the world, we truly wanted to create something that felt luxurious, yet laid back. We held our ceremony in a small clearing within the vineyard right amongst the vines. We completely transformed a large tin shed that normally houses tractors into the beautiful reception space—complete with crystal chandeliers and Riedel stemware. Since we wanted our wedding to be a personal reflection of ourselves, we took on numerous projects including: custom envelope liners, a large framed wedding program, directional signage, menu cards, favor cards and cocktail menu. Ryan built the wine barrel bar and shelving and together we hung the chandeliers. While much time and planning went into our wedding, the absolute best part of the day was being surrounded by those we love most!
