Wanting to treat their guests to an entire weekend of fun-filled festivities, these two NYC sweeties chose the Locusts on Hudson in Staatsburg as the perfect locale for their uber-gorgeous (+ stunningly classic) day. And from the looks of every last glorious image captured by Sarma & Co. Photography, they couldn’t have possibly made a better decision. Because this private estate was not only perfect for saying “I do” in the most fairytale of ways, but played host to every member of their bridal party (+ family) for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday of pretty. From the Bride… When Stuart and I began planning our wedding we had two main goals. We wanted a wedding that reflected a classic and elegant style, and we wanted a location that would allow our guests and family to enjoy a weekend of events. We live in New York City now, but Stuart grew up in Michigan and I in Washington, and we would therefore have many guests from out of town. We wanted to be close to the City and yet allow our guests to enjoy the pleasures of fall in New York State.
A friend suggested that we look at Locusts on Hudson, an estate on the banks of the Hudson River. We visited the property and fell in love with it immediately. The main house was beautiful, surrounded by acres of lawn, a pool, and a tennis court. There was everything we could have wanted for a weekend to remember. Our families and the bridal party all stayed together in the house, and we felt like we were welcoming our guests into our home.
We wanted our wedding décor to complement the beauty of the property, so we kept the colors soft, using coral, peach, ivory and white. The rehearsal dinner had a slightly “rustic” feel. Our guests dined on large farm tables with wild floral arrangements.
