Charlottesville Wedding from Jodi Miller Photography
A wedding resulting from a chance meeting at a bar is something I know all too well. (Shout out to my hubs, Mr. Lepperd!) And you just know with a movie-esque start like that, the happily ever after is bound to be picturesque. With the help of Strawberry Milk Events and Jodi Miller Photography, this happily ever after was translated into a chic, black tie affair positively brimming with Southern charm and you can see it all unfold right here in the full gallery and in the film below captured by Shaking Hands Production.
Dave and Ali met randomly at a bar three days after Christmas in New York City. Dave had just returned from traveling abroad for a year and was meeting a friend to catch up. Ali had plans for a girl’s night with an old college friend. Little did they know their lives would change after that fateful night. Their connection was instant. They had their first official date after the New Year -- a visit to The Moma and cocktails after. Although complete opposites…Dave, a financier, world traveler/ adventure seeker, photographer, bird watcher, environmental advocate, and New Jersey native…Ali, a dancer, English major, shopaholic, fashionista, and New York City girl…their relationship seemed to blossom effortlessly. It didn’t take long for them or their families and friends to realize this was the real deal. Their contentment within themselves and their love for each other was evident.
On the evening of November 30th, after two years together, and a big move down to North Carolina (for Dave to attend business school at Duke University) Dave got down on one knee with their ten week old puppy, Teddy, by his side and proposed to Ali. Having created a home and life together in the North Carolina, Dave and Ali wanted to share their newfound love of the south with friends and family. After a visit to Keswick Hall in Charlottesville Virginia, the couple immediately fell in love with the understated elegance, sophistication, and intimacy of the venue, and knew it was the perfect location to host their weekend long celebration.
They brought on Julie Savage and her team at Strawberry Milk Events to help make their vision a reality. Using a color palate of blush, black, and white they created a chic black tie affair with special nods to the couple to make the evening unique. A Bubbly Bar during Cocktail Hour offered guests a variety of the couple’s favorite champagne cocktails, and was a huge success. As opposed to a traditional guestbook, a beautiful Audubon coffee table book was displayed for guests to chirp and tweet sweet messages. Pictures of family members were beautifully displayed in silver frames throughout the rooms. The table names in the ballroom were all titles of Ali’s favorite story ballets. And the overall look of the room was a reflection of the couple’s stylish, graceful, and sophisticated style. It was an exquisite and memorable evening filled with amazing friends, family, love and laughter.
