Ojai is the birthplace of casual elegance; at least in my mind. It’s all warm weather and beautiful farm land that makes for the perfect weekend getaway. And nestled inside all of that goodness is the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa: a.k.a. the mecca for marrying and feting the night away. And who better to capture all the sunny festivities than Rebecca Fishman of Birds of a Feather. She has a special spot in our hearts for gorgeous imagery and the gallery…well, lets just say it speaks for itself.
From the bride…For us, the hardest part of the planning was deciding on a location! I felt overwhelmed, so I tried to focus on what we ultimately wanted: a laid-back vibe, guaranteed warm weather, and most importantly, we wanted all of our guests to have fun and be together.
I fell in love with the idea of a barn wedding, but many barns were in the middle of nowhere, requiring guests to be spread among several small hotels. But the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa was perfect because it has a barn adjacent to a large resort; and it’s in the charming town of Ojai, a destination where few guests had visited before.
Once we decided on the location, planning became much easier. There are a million details in a wedding, and it’s hard to not get hung up on every single one. So I focused on the things that would make our guests the most happy: a personal ceremony officiated by a close friend, delicious food with family-style eating to allow for more togetherness, and a great DJ!
The day was perfect. Everyone always says it goes by so fast, and it is so true! Be sure to take a minute, pull your brand new husband aside, and take it all in! To have your family and closest friends together in the same place, celebrating your love, is an unbelievable feeling that makes all the planning beyond worth it!
