Brookline Wedding from Ashley O’Dell Photography

It’s safe to say that meeting your future Mr. or Mrs. is one of the greatest moments of your life.  And meeting your soulmate in elementary school?  That’s what we call a fairytale beginning.  And that’s exactly the case these two sweeties, who met in second grade (!) and filled their wedding with the cutest touches ever as an ode to their childhood beginning.  (Think chalkboard venue directions and childhood books as table numbers.)  And the rest of their wedding held at the breathtaking Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline?  Absolutely gorgeous with fab florals from Derby Farms, a chicken and waffle nightcap and amazing images from Ashley O’Dell Photography.  See them all in the full gallery.

From the Bride… Ned and I are both very close to our parents and siblings and wanted the day to be about family. The lyrics, “home is wherever I’m with you” from one of our favorite songs became the theme to our day.

The week leading up to the wedding was a special time for us as we worked together to complete the personal touches for our wedding. We first met in second grade and wanted to highlight our story in the details of the day. Ned hand-painted venue directions on chalkboards, a nod to our history as children together. I gathered favorite children’s books that we used as table numbers. Our guests signed the books during the reception. This way we will be able to share the memories from our wedding with our growing family.

We fell in love with Larz Anderson Park and Museum right away. For months we worried that our outdoor ceremony would be ruined by rain. We didn’t think to worry about a heat wave. One of Ned’s greatest acts of love was standing in 95 degrees heat, in the direct sun, in a tuxedo! Our guests stayed cheerful throughout, staying cool during cocktail hour sipping Stoli Dolis made by the groom.

My favorite moment of the day was right after the ceremony as we walked away from our guests and into the park. Alone with my new husband, it was the first time I had felt calm in weeks. Moments later we were surrounded by our parents and siblings and the celebration began. After what felt like minutes, our late-night snack of chicken and waffles was served, we swayed to our last dance, and our guests waved flags as we were whisked away.

We look forward to going back to Larz Anderson Park in the years to come to make more memories with our family.
