I’ve come to find that southern weddings are unlike any other. They’re sweet, soulful and always stand the test of time. And while all weddings are romantic in their own right, there’s something extra special about this Virginia celebration from Leigh Webber Photography. Something so completely charming and subtly reminiscent of a scene from The Notebook. Add in the gorgeous blooms by Gathering Floral + Event Design and darling details from Kristin Newman Designs and you’re in for a gallery of pure gorgeousness.
From Leigh Webber…Peggy and Dan were married on June 16, 2012 in Orange, Virginia. Their ceremony was held at St. Andrews Chapel at Woodberry Forest School and their reception follows at The Inn at Willow Grove. The bride carried a bouquet with range of textural whites – peonies, garden roses, gardenias, campanula, and sweetpeas. The palette of whites, blues, & greens were carried throughout in varying combinations and containers. Vivid blue hydrangeas graced the tables and the bars. Guests received welcome gifts upon arrival. The cotton canvas totes had a map of Virginia screen printed on the front. The items in the bag included treats from the bride and grooms home states. The bride was from Virginia. The Virginia treats included: Virginia peanuts and sparkling wine – a nod to the surrounding VA wine country. The groom was from Michigan. The Michigan treats included fudge from the Mackinac Fudge Shop and bottled Vernors Ginger Ale.
The bridesmaids were given white robes to get ready in – each had their first initial monogrammed – great idea for friends who may be engaged or married soon and will have to change her last name. The ceremony took place in a small and quaint chapel at Woodberry Forest School in Orange, VA. The bride’s father is a part of the founding family at Woodberry Forest – personal tie to the school. Cocktail hour followed the ceremony in a secret garden at the Inn at Willow Grove – patterned linens with Peggy’s colors (green and blue) were accompanied by beautiful blue hydrangeas. Guest were then led by the bride and groom, as well as two band members from the horns section to the reception. They walked from the garden at the top of the property over to the reception space. The parades energy was exciting and fun for guests! Swaths of white fabric and lots of candlelight and lanterns at the reception created a summery classic feel beneath the tent. Seagrass furniture created a lounge area around the dance floor for guests to perch. The groom LOVES cigars so it wasn’t a question to surprise him with a cigar roller at the reception. The happy bride and groom exited through a tunnel of sparklers. The bride changed into a Romona Keveza “shortie.”
