I’ll always have a special place in my heart for winter weddings. As a cold weather enthusiast who said “I do” in January, I consider any fellow bride brave enough to wed during winter a total kindred spirit. But it’s not merely the season that drew me to this snowy soiree. It’s the impeccable styling by Bespoke Style Studio and the fluffiest pink and peachy florals from Love This Day Events. It’s a day filled with sparkles and glitter and everything a girl could hope for, all beautifully captured by Laura Murray Photography. Start your mid-week morning with a heaping dose of pretty in the full gallery right here.

From the bride…(of Bespoke Style Studio): Adam and I met under somewhat unusual circumstances when we both independently decided to leave our jobs in the US and take some time off to volunteer overseas. As fate would have it, we ended up at the same pre-departure training in Ottawa, Ontario but were left with only two weeks in the US before we each departed our separate ways to begin year-long volunteer placements on separate continents. Fast forward three months and countless emails and Skype dates later…we finally decided we couldn’t wait another nine months to see each other again so we planned our first date – a ten day trip in India! We knew this was either going to be the beginning of something amazing or the longest first date in history. Luckily for us it was the former and now we’re Mr. and Mrs.!
As soon as Adam and I got engaged we knew we wanted a winter wedding in the mountains of Colorado. My parents were married in January in the Colorado Mountains 36 years ago – we deeply admire their marriage and loved the idea of following in their footsteps. Additionally, some of our favorite memories as a couple are from our time spent enjoying winter in Colorado. When envisioning our wedding we knew we wanted it to be elegant and romantic yet also relaxed and intimate. It was also very important to us that our guests could relax and enjoy the weekend with great food and lots of activities to choose from. When we found Devil’s Thumb Ranch – we knew we had found the perfect venue for our wedding weekend!
While planning our wedding we kept our priority list fairly simple – most importantly we wanted to ensure our guests had an incredible time and that they knew how much we appreciated that they made the trip to celebrate with us. We also wanted our families to be an integral part of our day – my mom officiated our ceremony, Adam’s cousins served as our ring bearers and flower girl, my brother was my ‘man-of-honor’ and Adam’s Grandfather gave a special blessing during our ceremony. As a wedding designer, I have a passion for design and décor and loved getting to design our wedding. When creating and designing our décor, it was important to me that we infused originality into every detail and that our day was filled with personalized touches to make our wedding special and unique. I even stretched my design capabilities when I decided to design my own wedding dress and have it custom made. I had a hard time deciding on just one style so I decided to design a dress that I could layer and change to create different looks. I had so much fun changing my ‘look’ throughout the day!
One of my favorite design elements was our handmade envelope ‘guest book’. In lieu of a traditional guestbook, we created an envelope display and asked guests to write their sentiments on note cards and seal them in one the envelopes. My parents will mail each note to us sometime throughout our first year of marriage. I love the idea of prolonging the surprise of seeing what each guest wrote to us throughout the year! A highlight from the wedding was hearing how much our guests enjoyed the horse drawn sleigh rides at sunset during cocktail hour. It was pretty chilly but we tried to help keep guests warm by providing a ‘sleigh ride warming station’ with blankets, pashminas, gloves and hot chocolate!
My absolute favorite memory from the day was our first look. Adam and I were both filled with so much emotion and so excited to see each other – it made that first moment we saw each other extremely special and memorable. I also loved that we had a few minutes, just the two of us, to be together and share our excitement over the day. It was truly an incredible weekend filled with so much love and there is no way it would have been possible without our amazing vendors and the love and support of our parents. Adam and I feel truly blessed!
