From the bride…My husband, Ben, and I briefly first met through a mutual friend in 2006 before I moved to Boston to pursue a career in politics. Upon my return to Salt Lake two years later, Ben and I happened to enroll in the same GMAT class in preparation to obtain our MBA’s. It was love at first re-sight and we have been attached at the hip ever since. We both decided law school was a better fit and with acceptance to several law schools, we chose to leap into our future together in San Diego, California. Seven months later, Ben proposed during our Spring Break of our first year of law school under a breath-taking Hawaiian waterfall with the glow of morning shining through the trees in the forest. It was absolutely perfect.

For a year and a half we meticulously planned every last wedding detail (while sitting in class) with my mom, florist, and day-of coordinator at the St. Regis. My husband and I aimed to have a white, lush, magical night in a fun environment surrounded by 200 of our dearest friends and family. We chose a Secret Garden theme to our wedding, adding dashes of moss and white and pale pink garden roses everywhere. I still get starry-eyed when I reflect back on the the most perfect day of our lives!

One of our favorite touches was writing our own wedding ceremony and incorporating advice from both of our parents, which made it even more personal and special. Not everything always goes as planned (our trio never showed up for the ceremony) but everything turned out better than perfect and we couldn’t be more happy with the way things turned out.

For the reception we chose to start the celebration by surprising guests with a dancing bear. My husband and I are very silly and quirky and we wanted our wedding to reflect us as a couple (and set the tone for the evening). Everyone got up and danced with us and the bear – it was so much fun and no one could stop talking about it. A major goal of ours was to make sure that our wedding was a celebration. We had a homemade photo booth, a s’mores station, a dessert table (I’ve never seen candy fly faster than they did at our wedding), a floral garden arbor filled with family photos, and a heart-pumping DJ who injected the room with energy! The whole affair was nothing short of magical. We feel so blessed.
