From the Bride…  Let me start by saying that wedding planning was a joy for my husband and I. We really enjoyed every moment which was, I am sure, due to the fact that we had an intimate affair of 85 guests. Every single person at our wedding was and is the most important people in our lives, and that made everything else easy. We were, of course, also thrilled to start our lives together and pretty much had the same vision in mind for the process- to enhance our lives together and not to stress out or add friction to our relationship over one night. When Roy and I started wedding planning, we quickly knew that we wanted our wedding to be different and reflect our relationship. As we started looking into venues, we toured a handful of catering halls, and immediately we just knew it wasn’t us. We desired an intimate yet sophisticated setting, customized to our personalities and we knew that would mean bringing everything in. This eventually led us to look at summer homes in the Hamptons- the perfect setting for our May wedding.

The house we rented was the perfect backdrop for us, the decor was minimal yet elegant, and there was a private beach down the road which is where we would host our ceremony. We were really taking a leap of faith because, while we would rent a tent, the entire ceremony and cocktail hour would be outdoors. The odds were in our favor because on that Spring day, the rain dried up, the clouds parted and we were blessed with the most perfect sunny, 80 degree day. As for decor, people would always ask us “What colors are you using?”, and we would say, “White with candles” which is all we wanted. In the natural, green setting of the backyard, with the deep blue pool in the middle, the fresh white linens, the draped tent and the white flowers added a clean, crisp touch. The candles also provided such a romantic feel, especially at nighttime as the sun went down and we danced in the dim lit tent.

The best part of the wedding was at the end of the night, when we recruited (and surprised) all of our guests by asking them to return to the beach where we said our nuptials and light wish lanterns. It was a sea of black (well past midnight at that point) and everyone held lanterns to lead the way. Then one by one we all watched our wish lanterns fly into the sky. It was a magical day which ended in a magical way.
