From the Bride... Tahoe is such a special place for me because my family and I have gone up to Tahoe every summer and winter since I was a small child. The first trip Mike and I took was to Lake Tahoe in the summer, and we have gone back together many times since in both summer and winter. When we found out that we would be able to fit our 65 guests in the yard of my parents' lake house in Tahoe, that was even more special for us and just added significance to the entire event.
The theme of the wedding started with tiny pine cones, which was what I used for save-the-dates. I got together about 50 little pine cones and tied ribbon and save-the-date tags to each one, and then sent them out in small brown gift boxes to each wedding guest. The rustic touch of the pine cone as well as the colors of brown and sage green were our starting point for the wedding style. From there we built upon the pinecone theme and incorporated other rustic elements (a lot of wood, tree stumps, greenery and natural colors) while also striving for elegance and a very clean and coordinated look. 'Rustic elegance' was our aim, and from there I handed over the reigns to the experts (my wedding planner and florist) and watched them execute my vision perfectly!
The food and drinks were amazing, everyone loved the custom drinks that we created and I was happily surprised they had turned out to be so delicious! Mike and I were both so thrilled when we walked into the tent and saw what our wedding planner and florist had done with the tables and the setup. It just looked so perfect and exactly what I had envisioned, complete with a pine cone escort card holder and hanging flowers around the property and the little tree stumps holding the table numbers.
The wedding was complete blur to me as I was so overwhelmed with the significance of the day and having all my friends and family together in such a special place. However, a moment that stood out for me was during the ceremony, two of our friends read an excerpt from the Velveteen Rabbit, my favorite book when I was little. I started to tear up as I looked around at the benches full of people I love and thinking about the significance of the moment. Then Mike caught my eye and gave me a funny grin and my tears turned to laughter, which is typical because Mike always finds a way to make me laugh. It was just a great memory.
