Tennessee Backyard Wedding from Leslee Mitchell

From the moment I laid eyes on this backyard beauty, I knew we were in for something special. Not only because it was photographed by the talented Leslee Mitchell, but because finding a wedding of such exceptional elegance yet casual rusticity is an absolute rarity. From the Bride… Choosing a venue for our wedding was easy. My parents have the perfect location right in their backyard, which created the perfect intimate setting. Adam and I wanted everything to be simple with a touch of vintage elegance, and most of all, laid back. It was just that. We were a little nervous about having an outdoor wedding because of the unpredictable Tennessee weather, but it turned out to be a gorgeous day. We thought about going with traditional fall colors and flowers, but we knew light and airy with a slight splash of color was more our style. The wedding party fit this theme effortlessly. Everyone chose their dress or suit and accessorized according to their own personal taste—including our dog, Hank.

My friends helped out with a few DIY projects to personalize our day. Mason jars were used as flower vases. Each one was wrapped with twine and lace. We borrowed antique lace linens from family and friends to use on the dinner tables. One of my favorite things was the candlelight. We wrapped wire around jars and hung them from the ceiling of the clear tent. The ambience was incredible. Everything I had dreamed about came to life, and it turned out to be even more perfect than I imagined.

From Leslee Mitchell… Caitlin and Adam’s wedding was the type of wedding where I found myself repeatedly looking at my watch because I did not want the night to end. Simply put, Caitlin was stunning. She was the centerpiece of this event and she dripped with elegance.
