Napa, California was an easy choice as a venue! It’s beautiful, a destination that friends would want to fly to, and we love wine! As this was a destination wedding we began to look for a Napa wedding planner whose vision was similar to ours, and found Mary Ellen Murphy of Off the Beaten Path Weddings. Darren and I were very involved with the planning process and flew to Napa several times to look at venues and discuss design concepts. One thing I would recommend is making a storyboard of your vision so that your team can see exactly what you want. Of course, Mary Ellen and Chelsea Butts can create a magical experience without much input, but I’m one of those people who like to be involved.
We loved every minute of our wedding, and we really relaxed and enjoyed the day. That weekend was the first time that all of our friends and family had been together, so it was really special for everyone to meet and get to know each other. It’s so hard to pick our favourite part of the day… but I have to say our fun wedding dance that started with Etta James and went into Rob Base was one of them! We will always remember the laughter and cheers!
