Sunshine Coast Wedding from Jodi Mcdonald Photography

This wedding defines pretty. It's the type of wedding where the pretty layers on top of each other but all seems to blend together so effortlessly that you can't pin point what you love most. Maybe it's the sweet styling and flowers from Imbue Weddings or the gorgeous setting of Spicers Clovelly Estate, whatever it may be it's downright impossible to pull yourself away from Jodi Mcdonald Photography. But really, why would you want to? See it all here.

From the Bride...  Gareth and I met in Townsville where he had been posted to as he is an army officer and where I had moved to from Perth to complete my graduate year as a radiographer at the local hospital. Two and a half years after meeting Gareth I was having so much fun that I still hadn't gone home to Perth, much to my mums dismay and we were posted to Brisbane where Gareth proposed during a romantic mountain top picnic.

When we began the wedding planning process we originally planned to have our wedding in Brisbane city with our ceremony in a garden setting and our reception at a fine dining restaurant. We went and visited venues and began forming an outline of what our wedding would be like but before we knew it we felt the wedding and associated budget were getting bigger then Ben Hur and we felt as though we were losing sight of what was truly important about the day. We decided to slash the guest list to just under half the original list (from 100 to 48) and look for a venue which we could have private use of to make the day more intimate. We wanted to find somewhere we could have the ceremony, wedding photographs, reception and where the bridal party and close family could stay leading up to and after the wedding. I spent hours and hours searching on the internet and came across Spicers Clovelly Estate in nearby Montville.

Gareth and I went to visit and immediately fell in love with the venue, it was just stunning! Especially that incredible jacaranda. As neither of us is from Brisbane and about 80% of our guests would be traveling either interstate or overseas to the wedding it was important to us to make sure we could give our guests a fine food and wine experience, which the long apron restaurant made possible with a 5 course degustation. As the venue already had such beautiful french provincial decor we really wanted to keep the wedding along the same style and when I stumbled upon the blog for imbue weddings I knew they would be perfect.

As I am generally easily stressed Gareth and i thought imbue weddings were perfect as they could provide furniture hire set up and pack away on the day and provide all floral and venue styling we needed which meant on the day we could just relax and soak in everything that was happening around us. We spent the morning of our wedding having breakfast with all the guests staying at Spicers Clovelly Estate and then we went our separate ways. We had such a relaxed day and were ecstatic to see each other down the aisle. I thought i would be fighting back the tears of happiness but instead i was just beaming with joy the entire day. After the ceremony we went for photos around the incredibly beautiful grounds at Spicers Clovelly Estate with our bridal party before having some photos by ourselves at another location which allowed us to have some alone time, something we thought was very important on such a hectic day.

Our guests were entertained with acoustic tunes whilst having champagne and canapés until we returned and we were seated with our guests. We had a speech in between each course to keep the evening flowing nicely and finishing the evening relaxing in the lounge area on the terrace and dancing the night away on the dance floor, a perfect day all round.

Ultimately we tried to keep our wedding very relaxed and intimate with a mixture of cool tones and vintage french provincial touches. I sourced many items on the internet particularly etsy for example named coat hangers, his and hers cake forks (favors), chalkboard table numbers and jewellery. All of our providers were amazing and I would recommend them all to other brides in a heartbeat. They helped make our day really special and we couldn't have done it without them.
