“Father of the Bride” just so happens to be one of my all-time favorite movies, so when I read that this gorgeous bride had always dreamt of an Annie Banks-style wedding day, I completely understood. Then I spotted her uber-breathtaking affair held at the Wainwright House and, well. Let’s just say I was done for. From the Bride… As a child, I loved the movie “Father of the Bride”, and I always wanted a beautiful wedding in my own backyard. While my own home could never accommodate such a wedding, the Wainwright House helped us feel like we were getting married in that same intimate setting. From the moment we arrived at the House for the first time, we knew this is where we wanted our wedding to be. The quiet setting on the water had the feel of a destination wedding even though we were only 30 minutes from Manhattan. The site also serves as a spiritual retreat center and when you’re on site, you truly understand why.
To support this setting, we wanted a classic, beautiful wedding that still felt fun, intimate, and approachable. From the hot pink shoes to the violin-guitar duo, we wanted guests to feel like they were at a celebration and were there to have a good time. For the placecards and table numbers, we bought vintage floral paper from all over the tri-state area to give to our florist – our own way of creating a “picked from the garden” feel.
Neither my husband nor I could stop smiling the whole day, and felt incredibly present for every moment. The whole experience felt magical – even the next morning my husband looked at me and said “did that really just happen?”
