From Danielle Elder of Classic EventsOn what Sam thought would be an ordinary vacation to Puerto Rico, she met the man of her dreams. She was just enjoying her vacation, sitting at the bar when Jake approached her. It was like they knew each other their whole lives. They talked the night away under the stars. The vacation then came to an end; she went back to being a typical New Yorker and he returned to his military career. A week later he came to New York City and from that day forward the couple knew they couldn’t stay away from each other. So after making a long distance relationship work for months, Jake joined Sam in New York City. They then returned to Puerto Rico this time as a couple and on March 20, 2011 he proposed and she gladly said yes.

Sam and Jake’s wedding day was to be a complete reflection of them both as individuals and as a couple. She wanted classic New York City flare to marry her fiancé’s deep Oklahoma roots. So she chose the Mandarin Hotel with its amazing view of New York City to be their backdrop and we left it up to Renny and Reed to create a whimsical forest in the middle of Manhattan. They did an amazing job of bringing nature indoors with a chuppah made completely out of branches and flowers, topped off with centerpieces that resembled miniature trees. The room was warm and inviting. During dinner guests were surprised in classic New York City fashion as acrobats and dancers performed a floor show. And of course everyone was sent home with a sweet treat. A NYC taxi cookie paired with southern truffles by Cake Alchemy. Just like the couple, the parting gift was the combination of two worlds merged into one.
