Everyone who’s met me knows that I’m a pink girl. Which thankfully played out really well when I gave birth to both a wedding blog that celebrates all things pink and then an actual girl who is even more obsessed with the rosy hue than I am. Then when you layer on the fact that this next pink-hued beauty was photographed by our faves at Birds of a Feather and designed by our other faves at Bash, Please…well, you know that the spirit sprinkles were a-flying and my Valentine’s Day sugar high kicked into full gear. Oh and there is so much more pinktastickness in the gallery right here.
From Bash, Please… Leslie and Greg were the most vibrant yet laid back couple. They exuded light and love with such poise and grace. We had such a splendid time planning their wedding. They loved the Parker from the start as Palm Springs is a place they love to vacation and the Parker has such charm and style. We brought in wild texture with modern pops of pink, blue and gold to set the vibrant tone that embodies their personality. The bougainvilla was in perfect bloom! Leslie and Greg had two very good friends marry them and another good friend DJ. They brought in the master mixologist Talmadge Lowe from Pharmacie to curate the specialty cocktails for the night. It was a night filled with love, laughter and DANCING.
From the Bride… Greg and I wanted our wedding to feel as special and significant as a wedding should be, but also, ultimately wanted to keep things as simple and relaxed as possible. A destination was important to us, but we couldn’t take it too far away or we would be sacrificing some of our closest friends and family being there. Palm Springs has long been our go to getaway from LA. We have some very romantic memories there, and it made perfect sense for our location.
I walked down the isle to “Calico Skies” by Paul McCartney. It is such a sweet, special song to us and lent itself to the moment perfectly. Our ring bearers carried pillows made from vintage fabric by Greg’s mom and wooden trays made by Greg’s dad. We asked three of our friends to officiate the ceremony. They combined their unique perspectives of knowing us apart, as a couple, through a break up, and now sharing, supporting, and creating the moment that we were married. It was an intimate and personal ceremony filled with laughter and tears. I can’t begin to attempt to describe the heartbreakingly beautiful vows that Greg said to me. I could never come up with any description to do them justice. The whole thing was touching on a level that we never could have anticipated. One of the best things I heard after the ceremony was, “I’ve never seen so many men cry at a wedding!”
Immediately after our ceremony, Greg and I stole away for a few minutes just to take in the moment alone together. The most important thing we did was to make sure that there was time built in for us to really take in all of the amazing moments that the day brings. Bash, Please helped us create an absolutely beautiful space on the Gene Autry lawn. We watched the sun set behind the mountains from under a canopy of lights. It all felt very magical. We danced our first dance to a Feist cover of the Kink’s song “Strangers.” The night was filled with fun, laughter, love, and dancing. The entire experience was so much lovelier than we could have ever hoped for.
