From Exquisite Designs… Kristine and James planned a stunning, modern wedding in a wonderfully unique space in Chicago. They even started their day in one of the most contemporary boutique hotels in the city, which provided a fitting backdrop for getting-ready photos and their First Look, and set the tone for the day to come!
Their ceremony and reception venue, Prairie Production, is an elegant converted warehouse. It is a lovely example of how this particular part of the city has transitioned over time from the industrial district to the home of stylish and unexpected event venues. The entire space has been painted white which set off the bright pops of fuchsia flower arrangements created by Exquisite Designs. The ceiling is adorned with whimsical white hanging lanterns that soften the industrial edge, and the candles throughout the rooms provide a warm golden glow in the evening. It was a beautiful mix of contemporary and classic, and the couple’s well-placed design touches kept the space feeling open and bright.
Family was also the focus of their wedding. Rather than a larger wedding party, Kristine & James’ only attendants were their siblings, which was in keeping with the intimate feel of their wedding. They incorporated a sweetly decorated, simple table showcasing family wedding photos from current and past generations. Using only black & white photos not only complimented their color scheme, but created a polished “gallery” look as well.
The book guests signed is itself is a tribute to the history of Chicago. Their dinner was refreshingly casual. No place cards were needed, and a delicious buffet allowed guests to mingle and dine at their leisure.
Guests hit the dance floor and rocked the night away cast in blue light punctuated with golden glowing lanterns which gave the feeling of being outdoors under a starry sky. Ultimately the day was a lovely balance of the historic and contemporary, grey, white, hot pinks, elegance and whimsy. I think it reflected their personalities wonderfully!
