If you’re from Massachusetts then you totally get just how special The Cape is. And whether you were lucky enough to grow up there or just spend some time there in the summer, that feeling you get when crossing the bridge is one of total relaxation and good times. Which make it just about the most perfect spot to say I Do. Scott Zuehlke Photography captured this gorgeous Wequassett Resort wedding and all its fab, little details. And you can see it all right here in full gallery.
From the Bride… Growing up on the Cape, there was never a question in my mind that I wanted to be married near the beach. I was lucky enough to find an amazing person that had the same appreciation for my home as I did. We immediately jumped into searching for a venue, and we absolutely fell in love with Wequassett’s gorgeous grounds right away. From the beach, to the pool, to the ballroom – everything was exactly as we hoped. Once we decided on the venue, everything else fell into place. We wanted to encompass the nautical, seaside aura of the Cape without taking away from the classic, sophisticated feel of Wequassett. We brought in the nautical touches – like our canvas sailboats acting as guestbooks, the silver sailboat escort card holders, and tables named after Cape Cod lighthouses – but tried to keep it from being too “theme-y” by focusing on the beautiful blues, greens and whites that surround Wequassett.
As only children, my husband and I have always considered our friends and family-friends as our siblings and actual family. When it came time to plan our wedding, we wanted to be sure that every person that was there would have an amazing time, but more importantly, really understand how much they mean to us and how much we appreciated their presence in our lives and on our special day. Our photographer, Scott Zuehlke, and his second shooter Amy captured our day with absolute perfection – there was so much love and happiness filling our day, and we think they were able to document it flawlessly.
It was important to us for everyone to be dancing and partying all night (and thanks for our fantastic band, they were!) We had a hot donut station and quesadilla station to keep everyone’s energy up late at night, but one of our most favorite moments was a time when we were able to step outside on the porch. We had a few minutes to enjoy each other and realize we were actually married, and also a few minutes to look in on everyone that was there to support us. It made the night worth all the planning, crafting, and excitement to see everyone sharing in our love.
